William A. "Bill" Cottrill, Jr.

August 22, 1947 - November 17, 2017

RIDGELEY, W.Va. William A. "Bill" Cottrill Jr., 70, of Ridgeley, passed away with his family at his side on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cumberland, on Aug. 22, 1947, he was the son of the late William A. and Pearl (Pifer) Cotrill Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William A. Cottrill III; daughter, Hallie Elizabeth Cottrill; brother, Dale Cottrill; and sisters, Mona, Hallie, and Jackie.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Ann (Brailer) Cottrill; sons, Daniel R. Cottrill and wife, Teresa, Martinsburg, W.Va. and Travis D. Cottrill and wife, Tonya, Ridgeley; daughter, Ashley L. Cassatt and husband, Kevin, Blairsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeremy Harbaugh and wife, Becki, Andrew Harbaugh and wife, Jennifer, Breeanna Bender and husband, Zach, Reuben Cottrill, Aeryn Cassatt, Adalie Cassatt; sisters, Billie Davis and husband, Don, Fort Ashby, Sandy Walters and husband, Harold, Cumberland, Porkey Painter, Cumberland, and Kitty.
Bill was an Army Veteran. He was employed Schmidt Bakery, and he retired from Nelson's Auto. Bill was a hunter and fisherman, he was an assistant coach for the Ridgeley Ram's youth football team. Bill will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. He enjoyed spending weekends watching the Dallas Cowboys, West Virginia Mountaineers and Dale Jr. while coaching from his couch. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and antics that left many to question his motives
At Bill's request, he will be cremated, and there will be no service to follow. Bill fulfilled his wish to be an organ donor. Those wishing to honor Bill's memory may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
