William Wesley Nightingale


William Wesley Nightingale, 88, of McCulloh Street, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Rest Assured Assisted Living, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born June 7, 1930, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Daniel Nightingale and Agnes (Thompson) Nightingale.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donnie Nightingale; grandson, Keith Nightingale; two sisters, Norma Jean Daniels and Shirley Smith; and two brothers, Paul Nightingale and Bob Nightingale.
William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War where he was a 2nd Class Diver on the USS Greenlet. A graduate of Central High School, he retired from ABL where he spent 35 years as a security lieutenant. He attended LaVale Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, John Nightingale and wife, Kathy, Short Gap, W.Va., Daniel Nightingale and wife, Susie, Fort Ashby, and Paul Nightingale and wife, Lee Ann, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Chris Gring, Jason Nightingale, Josh Nightingale, Karen Goodwin, Dustin Nightingale, Rebecca Nightingale, and Corrie Preston; and numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Hott, Cumberland; three brothers, Daniel Nightingale, Woodrow Nightingale, and Jack Nightingale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial services will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.
The family especially thanks the staff of Rest Assured Assisted Living for the excellent care provided for their father, Bill, during his stay.
