Betty's Story

Betty Lee (Iser) Servis, 80, of Cumberland, wife to the late Charles R. Servis, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Devlin Manor Health Care Center after a short battle with kidney disease.
Born April 23, 1937, in Fort Ashby, W.Va., Mrs. Servis was the daughter of the late Fred and Nora (Romine) Iser. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, William and Robert Radcliff.
Betty was a devoted mother of eight children, and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion was her children and her family, and also her faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She deeply loved caring for people, which is why she became an in-home caregiver for many residents in the Cumberland and surrounding area.
Betty is survived by her children, Debbie Bray and husband, Tim, Cumberland, Brenda Packey and husband, Frank, Washington, Pa., Peggy VanMeter, Mercersburg, Pa., Mary May and husband, Donnie, Flintstone, Charles Servis Jr., Cumberland, and Billy Servis, Cumberland. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Jerry, David, and Jacob Watson, Nicole Oester, Heather VanMeter, Sherry Barger, John Gensler, and Adam Radcliff-Packey; her eight great-grandchildren, Levi Norris, Emily Norris, Bailey Newell, Ryan VanMeter, Matthew Wilhelm, Layne Wells, McKenna Barger, and Carter Gross. Betty is also survived by her brother, Fred (Mike) Iser, Cumberland. Betty was raised by her grandparents, Newton and Edna Iser.
Betty was asked to be cremated and a service will be held for her at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 11515 Davis Farm Lane, SW, Frostburg, on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 1 p.m.
Betty will be laid to rest with her late husband, Charles, at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, at a later date.
