Charles Harold "Charlie" Tressler, 87, of Loch Lynn, began his eternity peacefully, July 13, 2017, at his home with his wife of 66 years, Claudia Grace (Bittinger) Tressler, by his side and his faithful dog, Buddy.
Born Sept. 16, 1929, in Lambert, Pa., he was the son of the late Sherman Peter and Anna Laura (Opel) Tressler. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Parke Tressler, Jim Tressler, Paul Tressler; one sister, Fern Staggs; one grandson, Thomas Jordan Tressler; one granddaughter, Julianne Hesson; and one great-grandson, Noah Rory Bernard.
Charlie was owner/operator of Tressler Auto Sales and also was an owner and drove school bus for many years. He was mayor of Loch Lynn for 26 years and was recognized in Washington, D.C., for his length of service as mayor. Charlie was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia; three sons, Charles Thomas Tressler and wife, Debbie, Douglas Allen Tressler and wife, Tammy, Gregory Jay Tressler and wife, Tammy; two daughters, Sharon Gale Stewart and husband, Wheeler, Cathy Shomo and husband, Bill; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leora Beitzel, Mountain Lake Park, Dorothy Beitzel, Oakland, Shirley Beitzel, Akron, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Fike officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
