CUMBERLAND Dale Owen Collins, 83, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 2, 1934, in Cumberland, Mr. Collins was the son of the late Howard Raymond Collins and Effie Mae (Weimer) Collins. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Merle Collins.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Dale was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Swift and Company. He was the former owner of the Maryland Motel. Dale then moved to Florida, retired from the Bank of Florida, and moved back to Cumberland. Dale was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church and the Cumberland Elks.
Dale is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vickie Collins; and his daughter, Kelly Collins. He also leaves behind his brother, Melvin Collins; and his niece, Kim Shaffer and husband, Joe.
A committal service will be conducted at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
