Heaven has welcomed in a new angel. Darrell Frankie "Frank" Stein, 76, of Grantsville, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland.
Born Feb. 23, 1941, on the little farm on Bear Hill in Jennings, he was the son of the late Fred Gilbert and Leattie Pearl (Berkey) Stein. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Stein and Silven Stein; five sisters, two infant sisters, Lena Mason, Verna Twombly and Ruth Eisentrout; and his parents-in-law, Samuel and Victoria Staub.
Darrell, better known as Frank, worked for Rodamer Concrete, Springs, Pa., for 32 years hauling cement from place to place. He also worked with his dad in the mines and wood work. He enjoyed spending his days on his small farm and loved the animals he raised. His dog "B" was special to him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris J. (Staub) Stein; two sons, Duane Stein and wife, Beck, and David Stein and wife, Jodi, all of Grantsville; seven grandchildren, Duane Stein II, Brandon Stein, Pete Stein, Brittany Stein, Cortney Stein, Anika Stein and Jordan Stein; five great-grandchildren, who he was very proud of, Dillan, Lance, Ava, Haiden and Madden; sisters, Marguerite Deal and Wilda Mason, both of Grantsville, Shirley Brinegar, Salisbury, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Ruby Stein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Pascal Crites and Brother Jim Hinkle officiating.
Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
