David H. Cope, 73, a 38 year resident of Pasadena, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
He was born Monday, April 24, 1944, in Cumberland.
Mr. Cope served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967 and was a Vietnam War veteran.
He graduated from the Maryland Police Training Academy in 1967 and became a police officer in Cumberland. After the police department, he started working for Ponderosa and became the regional manager.
Mr. Cope was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Eagles and the FOP. He enjoyed playing cards as well as coaching softball for Riviera Beach travel teams in the 1990's.
Mr. Cope is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin "Pap" and Angel Heller.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Cope; daughters, Carmen Meade and her husband, Quentin, Tara Koontz; brother, Thomas Cope; sisters, Carol Lancaster, Nancy Gordon; and his grandchildren, Dominic and Tyler Koontz.
Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, P.A.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
