OAKLAND Edward Lewis Nutter Sr., 87, of Oakland, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland.
Born Sept. 18, 1929, in Orient Hill, W.Va., He was the son of the late James and Otti (Haines) Nutter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Sines) Nutter; a daughter, Rhonda (Nutter) Latta Halterman; two brothers, Albert Nutter and Rollin Nutter; son-in-law, Granville "Rocky" Halterman.
Edward was a finish carpenter having worked for Devlin Inc. and Garrett Land Construction. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of the Brethren. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. Edward served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by a son, Edward Nutter Jr. and wife, Karen, Oakland; a daughter, Donna Sites and husband, Douglas, McHenry; two brothers, Nathan Nutter, Orient Hill and Johnson Nutter, Baltimore; three sisters, Dorothy Fine, and Nancy England, both of Thomasville, N.C., Ruth Amick, Hominy Falls, WVa.; grandchildren, Joshua Latta, Cody Latta, Shane Latta, Christia Nutter, Rebecca Halterman and Cassy Layne; one great-grandson, Logan Latta.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Russell Sines officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland. Military Honors will be accorded by the various veterans' organizations of Southern Garrett County.
