MARTINSBURG, Pa. Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Fagan, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Homewood at Martinsburg.
Born June 26, 1931, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Theodore L. and Margaret Elizabeth (McCall) Stegmaier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John T. "Jack" Stegmaier; and brothers-in-law, Harry L. DeVore, and Ronald Dorman.
Betty was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary High School. She later graduated from Catholic Girl Central Business School in 1950. Betty went on to earn an Associate Degree from Allegany Community College. She was employed at Liberty Trust Company and ABL Industries. Married in 1970 to Richard W. Fagan, Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Church Sodality, the Church Parish Council, and she, along with her husband, counted the church collection. She was a charter member of the School House Quilters Guild, Bata Sigma Phi Sorority, the Allegany County Farm Bureau, and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Roaring Springs. Betty was a loving and caring aunt to many nieces and nephews who love her dearly.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Cannon and husband, Mike, Cumberland, and Janet Dorman, Bel Air, Cumberland; sisters-in-law, Iris Stegmaier, Frostburg, and Mary Jane Fagan, Cresaptown; brothers-in-law, E. Leo "Bo" Fagan, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and C. Francis Fagan and wife, Alitha, Rocky Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
