PATTERSONS CREEK, W.Va. Evaline H. Chaney, 82, of Patterson Creek, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at The Dawnview Center.
Born March 21, 1935, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harper O. Peer and Eva S. (White) Peer.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Chaney; her former husband, Roy A. Wheeler; a son, Roy F. Wheeler; a daughter, Kathy L. Hoover; a granddaughter, Beverly Nethers; brothers, Blake G. Peer, Edward B. Peer, Gilmore I. Peer, Virlis H. Peer, Oscar O. Peer, and Curtis L. Peer; and sisters, Catherine R. Snyder, Josephine L. Branson, Madeline W. Snyder, and Norma J. Cunningham.
Mrs. Chaney had worked at People's Drug Store, in both Cumberland and LaVale.
Mrs. Chaney loved camping at the river, crocheting, doing word find books, and having her family come to visit her.
Survivors include her sons, Mike O. Wheeler and wife, Deborah, Berkeley Springs, Robert Chaney, Keyser, and Gary Chaney, Short Gap; daughters, Nilda Green and husband, Larry, Winchester, Va., and JoAnn Riggleman, Woodstock, Va.; a brother, Robert S. Peer and wife, Ruth, Ridgeley; a brother-in-law, Leslie Cunningham, College Park; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m..
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Dietz, officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
