Harold "Bunny"'s Story
CUMBERLAND - Harold "Bunny" Leo Hare, 94, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at his home.
Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Cumberland, Mr. Hare was the son of the late Charles Franklin Hare and Goldie Belle (Poland) Hare. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jean Elizabeth (McClellan) Hare, Jan. 11, 2009; a sister, Betty L. Frantz; three brothers, Charles Edward, Jack Wesley, and Eugene Franklin Hare; a great-grandson, Raven Reese Pyles-Lupettie; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A United States Naval Veteran during World War II, Harold retired from B&O Railroad as a Machinist. He was a former member of the Mapleside United Methodist Church and attended the Eckhart United Methodist Church. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists. Harold was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues in the area. He loved gardening and enjoyed traveling.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Linda A. Adams and husband, Bill, Julia L. Sweitzer and husband, Gary, Patricia L. Pyles and husband, Bob, and, Peg J. McKenzie and husband, Doug. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tia Meade, Michele Jack and husband, Jeremy, Mike Adams, Rob Pyles and wife, Becky, Jenny Lennon and husband, Sean, J.P. Adams and wife, Gina, Samantha Pyles-Lupettie and Chris Pyles; and his great grandchildren, Katie Jack, Brynne Adams, Noah Jack, Courtney Adams, Brooke Adams, Peyton Adams, Brady Lennon, and Violet Lennon.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the WMHS-Home Hospice and to his special caregivers for all the care, concern, and compassion given to Harold.
