Hazel's Story

Hazel A. Riggleman, 85, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, formerly of New Creek, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on May 31, 1932, at Ridgeville, she was a daughter of the late Charles Olen and Leila Mae (Cannon) Kesner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Riggleman on March 14, 1999; a son-in-law, William M. Helbig Sr.; and two sisters, Charlotte A. Rawlings and her husband, Lorentz Rawlings, and her twin, Helen E. Evans; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn J. Kesner.
Mrs. Riggleman was a 1950 graduate of Keyser High School and was formerly employed in the maintenance department at Potomac State College. She was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and was very active in church life.
Surviving are one son, Randall C. Riggleman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Sherri J. Huya and husband, James of Albion, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jared Riggleman, Charles French and Rachale Shiflett and husband, Patrick; and four great-grandchildren, Piper French, Bella Shiflett, Chloe Shiflett and Nikita French. Also surviving is one brother, Dale O. Kesner and wife, Frances, of Burlington; a sister, Beverly M. Welch and husband, Ivan, of Burlington; a brother-in-law, James Evans of Burlington; and a special niece, Lori Evans McDonald of Burlington.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gwen Wolford officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch.
