Imogene's Story

Imogene L. (Smiley) Jordan, 80, a resident of Morehead Nursing Center, Eden, N.C., departed this earthly home to her new home in Heaven, June 18, 2017.
Born Aug. 16, 1926, in Westernport, she was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Martha E. Smiley. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melody Hartman on June 18, 2013; brothers, Oliver, Arthur, William M, Paul A. Smiley; and sister, Emma Broadwater.
She was employed at Keyser Garment Factory and also was a caregiver for several people. She was a graduate of Bruce High School and Zion Bible Institute, Providence, R.I., and a member of First Assembly of God, Westernport. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and faithfully served him her entire life. She shared the gospel message with others during her lifetime. She had a deep abiding love for God and her Bible was a constant companion.
She is survived by her son, Mark Jordan, wife Selena of Eden; her granddaughter, Amber McIntyre, husband Braxton, Eden; her grandson, Oliver J. Alkire, Abingdon; great-grandchildren, twins Tate and Gracie Pegram, Eden; a sister, Anna Lee Jollie, husband John of Riverside, R.I.; also many nieces and nephews.
She chose cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Eden.
