James "Ed"'s Story
James Edward "Ed" Williams, 76, of St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his home in the loving arms of his wife, Shirley.
Born April 17, 1940, in Cumberland, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Theodore Williams and Rosemary Williams. He was also preceded in death by his brother; his daughter, Rose Marie Leyh; and two grandchildren.
A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1958, Ed retired from Potomac Farms Dairy. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and drove the church bus, and also attended the Memorial Heights Baptist Church. In St. Cloud, Ed was a member of the Souls Harvest Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, loved watching sports especially football, golf, and NASCAR. Ed enjoyed attending the Special Olympics and had a heart for the special needs children. He loved the Lord. Ed is now walking with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ed loved his wife and family with all his heart.
Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley (Davis) Williams; his daughters, Faith and Todd Miller, Shiela and Kevin Harshman, Peggy Sue Williams, and Kathleen Williams; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Chan Hubbard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ed's name to the funeral home to help with expenses.
