James "Jim"'s Story
James Bernard "Jim" Warner, 77, of Cumberland, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Born April 15, 1940, in Cumberland, Mr. Warner was the son of the late Patrick G. Warner and Emma (Keefer) Warner. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Warner; and three sisters, Gertrude Fernihough, Helena Latham, and Jeanette Meagher.
Jim retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company and the Allegany County roads department. He was also employed with Fagan Transportation and a security guard at the County Circuit Court. Jim was former president of the union for the county road's department and the Allegany County Nursing Home. He was former chief of the Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department. Jim was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, the Democrat Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Good Fellowship Club, and the Crossroads Sportsmen's Club. He was very active in coaching the Pee Wee and Youth League Football. Jim enjoyed the fishing rodeos at the O.D.C. for kids.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Barbara Ann Bernard and husband, Dennis; his son, J.P. Warner; and his love, Nancy Darrow, all of Cumberland. He also leaves behind his grandson, Trevor Warner; his step-grandchildren, Matt Bernard and wife, Mary, and Mitchell Bernard and wife, Britney; and his step-great-grandchildren, Ryder and Raiden Bernard. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Rosalie McAteer and husband, Bob, and Patty Sylvious; a very special nephew, Scott Warner; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cumberland Moose Lodge, Wiley Ford, W.Va.
