MCHENRY Joseph Junior DeWitt, 77, of McHenry, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland.
Born Dec. 23, 1939, in Sang Run, he was the son of the late Joseph Columbus and Mary Ethel (Savage) DeWitt. Mr. DeWitt was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kara Leigh DeWitt.
Mr. DeWitt was Chief of Right-of-Ways and Research for the Garrett County Roads Department. He was a member of the NRA and Oak Grove Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is a son, Douglas Eugene DeWitt and wife, Rebecca, Raleigh, N.C.; four daughters, Marla ReNee Harvey and husband, Michael Glenn Sr., Hesperus, Colo., E. Collette Savage and husband, John Edward Jr., McHenry, Barbara Lee Crites and husband, Randy, Ridgeley, W.Va., Lori Lynn DeWitt, Raleigh; nine grandchildren, Douglas DeWitt, Michael Harvey Jr., Daniel Harvey, Ward Savage, Jacob Savage, Scott Crites, Patrick Crites, Kody Crites, Jeremy DeWitt and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident (McHenry), on Monday, May 8, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Clem officiating.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
