Lewis "Gene" Llewellyn Sr., 84, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away at home on Thursday, May 18, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1933, in Rawlings, to Bouce Huffman Llewellyn and Lula Mae (Dennison) Llewellyn. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings; brothers, Bouce, Ralph, Charlie, and Phil; and sisters, Chattie and Lillian.
Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ada (Moreland) Llewellyn; daughter, Karen Wegener and husband, Steve; sons, Lewis G. Llewellyn Jr. and Richard D. Llewellyn; grandson, Sean D. Riley; granddaughter, Katherine Riley and husband, Eric Tyler; special brother-in-law, Ronald Moreland and wife, Jane, and their sons, Brock and wife Leslie, and Brent; beloved nieces, Phyllis, Laura, Bonnie, Lori, Sandy, and Barbara Jean; nephews, Pete and Dwight; and extended family, Denise Meister, Eric Chancellor, Richard, and Erin.
Gene was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force from ages 18 to 21. He was a master electrician by trade, working out of Local 307 and establishing his own business, Llewellyn Electric, for many years.
Gene was a member of the Allegany Baptist Temple in Westernport. He was a devoted servant of the Lord and the rock upon which his own family was built. Many thanks to the physicians and staff at the Schwab Cancer Center and the workers at Mountain Hospice for their care and compassion.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, May 22, 2017, at noon with Pastor Walter Lancaster officiating. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Brock Moreland, Brent Moreland, Tyler Poole, Dustin Bradshaw, John Poole, and Harry Bradshaw.
