CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Pa. Mary Elizabeth " Betty" Lechliter, 91, of Chippewa Township, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born April 6, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Emma Evans Miller.
She graduated from Allegany High School, class of 1943, in Cumberland, where she had been in the marching band, and a graduate of Western Maryland College, class of 1947. She had been a teacher, played the organ at several churches, and had also been a medical lab technician. She was a member of Chippewa United Methodist Church and had also regularly attended Beaver Valley Christian Fellowship. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the hand bell choir, the quilters club at church, Chippewa Women's Club, Medical Center Auxiliary, volunteered for Meals on Wheels on College Hill, Christian Women's Club, Girl Scout Leader, 4 H member, various card clubs, Red Hat Society, and the Craft of the Month Club, and the 301 Ladies Club in Glen Burnie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Lechliter in 1990.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Richard Lechliter, Ridgeley, W.Va., a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. Robert Grieco, Chippewa Township; five grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah and Jon Carman, Lydia and Robert Lewis, Elisa and Jonathan Rea, Monica and Daniel Dickerman, Nicholas Grieco, three great-grandchildren, Heidi Carman, Luke Rea, Benjamin Rea; a sister, Nancy Shinn; and two special nieces and their families.
Friends will be received on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls.
The interment will be in the Hyndman Cemetery, Bedford County.
