Michael's Story

RIDGELEY, W.Va. Michael Paul Lease Sr., 69, of Ridgeley, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017.
Born in Cumberland, on Dec. 14, 1947, he was the son of the late Ethel (Pratt) and Arlie Lease. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Arlie Lease.
Mike attended both Fort Hill and Allegany High Schools. Following high school, he was employed at Walter N. Yoder and Company where he was a construction worker. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mike enjoyed the outdoors. He also helped in archeological digs in the area.
Mike is survived by his companion of 20 years, Jane (Fleming) Wright and her children, Neal Wright and Nicholas Wright; his children, Tara Davidson and husband, John, Carpendale, Michael P. Lease Jr., LaVale, and Anthony Lease, Bowling Green; the children's mother, Lana (Toohey) McConnell and her husband, Jim, LaVale; sisters, Diane Hill, Cresaptown, JoEllen Morris and husband, Ed, Cresaptown, and Mary Ann Nee and husband, Ted, Smithsburg; brother, Victor Lease and wife, JoAnn, Bowling Green; nieces, Tracy Roach and husband, David, and Danyle Morris; and nephews, J.R. Lease, Victor Lease and wife, Valarie, Eddie Morris, Jason Nee and Vincent Nee and wife, Christine. Mike is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Schaffer officiating.
In accordance with his wishes, Mike will be cremated.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Mike's memory may do so by making contributions to the Williams Syndrome Association, 570 Kirts Boulevard, Ste. 223, Troy, MI 48084-4156.
