Robert Lee Bowman, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a patient for many years.
Born in Cumberland on June 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles Chilton and Hazel Irene Bowman. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Orintha B. "Rinkey" Zies Bowman; and daughters, Mary Nixon and Linda Robertson.
Bob was a graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was employed at PPG Industries and he retired from Central Receiving and Maintenance at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was a member of the District 16 Volunteer Fire Department. Bob and his wife also attended St. Mary Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish.
Bob is survived by his sons, Donald R. Grabenstein and wife, Carolyn, Short Gap, W.Va., and Robert C. "Chuck" Bowman and wife, Linda, Ligonier, Pa.; grandchildren, Ronald Grabenstein, Eric Grabenstein, Debra Baker and husband, John, and Victoria Nixon and her children, Cayden and Cameron.
Throughout Bob's illness, his granddaughter, Debra Baker was his caretaker. All the members of the family are eternally grateful for all that she did to make Bob's life more pleasant. She held his hand and provided loving care during his final days.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Davis memorial Cemetery.
