Shawn's Story

Shawn Michael Carlile, 42, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 28, 1974, in Cumberland, Shawn was the son of Clinton "Moe" Carlile Jr. and Georgia (Schupfer) Witt and husband, Leroy, all of Cumberland. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Phyllis Schupfer; his paternal grandfather, Clinton Carlile Sr.; and an aunt, Bonnie Schupfer.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1992, Shawn also graduated from Allegany College of Maryland and was currently employed with XPO Logistics, Bedford, Pa. He loved watching sports, especially baseball. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Shawn's favorite pastime was playing poker, Texas Hold'em, and he enjoyed golfing.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Angela (Kaylor) Carlile; and his fur baby, Daisy "Bubba." He also leaves behind his siblings, Toby Carlile, Chris Carlile and fiancée, Jolene Shreve, Aaron Carlile and fiancée, Rebecca Mertz, and Travis Carlile and wife, Erin; his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Carlile; his half-sister, Candice Boarman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Shawn's name to Acting Out For ALS Research, Inc., 16226 Rawlings Heights Drive, Rawlings, MD 21557.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the WMHS Home Hospice, Acting Out for ALS Research, Inc., as well as family and friends for all the care, love, and support given to Shawn.
