SHORT GAP, W.Va. Tonya Marie (Junkins) Cozatt, 53, Short Gap, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Western Maryland Medical Center, after a brief but courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma.
Tonya was born on Nov. 22, 1962, in Keyser, to Richard L. "Dick" Junkins Sr. and Donna Marie (Cheshire) Junkins.
Tonya attended Keyser High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Clayton College of Natural Health as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.
Tonya enjoyed being outdoors watching dragonflies in the day and owls at night. She also enjoyed hiking and searching for beautiful waterfalls and spending time with family and friends. She was the Assistant Cheerleading Coach for the Frankfort Falcons Cheerleading Squad for Mineral County Schools, Greeter/Cashier at US Cellular, Owner of Earth Zone Nutrition Center and Founder/Lead Investigator at AfterLife Investigations (ALI).
Tonya is survived by her loving husband and soul mate, John D. Cozatt; loving daughter, Keana Dale Cozatt; parents, Richard "Dick" Junkins Sr. and Donna M. Junkins; brothers, John W. Junkins and wife, Chrissy, Keyser, and Richard L. Junkins Jr. and wife Robin, Bayse, Va.; son-in-law, Aaron Taylor; and granddaughter, Stella M. Taylor, Cumberland. She also had a big heart to rescue pets and had several that she cared for.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dominique M. (Cozatt) Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Brookdale Farm in Fort Ashby, with Pastor Jerry Eisenhour officiating.
