Anna Lee
CUMBERLAND - Anna Lee "Ann" Vandegrift, 93, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at the Lions Center.
Born in Cumberland, on April 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Edna (Willison) and Ellsworth Myers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John F. Vandegrift.
After high school, Ann attended Catherman's Business School. She was employed as a secretary at National Jet, and Potomac Edison. She later operated Vandegrift's Music Shop on Baltimore Street along with her husband, John. Ann was employed as a secretary in the Radiology Department at Sacred Heart Hospital, and as the receptionist at the Imaging Center.
Ann was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and the Lioness Club and Ladies of the Elks in Cumberland. She enjoyed traveling, her cat Baby, feeding her hummingbirds, and flower gardening. Her friends and family admired her independence and her words of wisdom.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon A. O'Neal and husband, Mick, and Teri F. See and husband, Gary, both of Cumberland; grandchildren, Stephanie A. Lewis and husband, Trevor, Oakland, Matthew T. Growden and wife, Gwen, Cumberland, John F. See, Ankeney, Iowa, and Lauren A. See, Cumberland; great-grandchildren, Camden T. Lewis, and Greyson C. Growden; and sister, Bettie Lou Elledge, Baltimore.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, from 1 until 2 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, at Rocky Gap.
