Betty Lou McDonald Obituary

Keyser, WV - KEYSER, W.Va. [mdash] Betty Lou (VanMeter) McDonald, a precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, joined her Heavenly Father on Oct. 8, 2025.

Born August, 1933, in Oldtown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Elma (Grapes) VanMeter. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard McDonald; son, Gregory McDonald; and siblings, Estella Appel, Robert VanMeter, Ray VanMeter, Ruth Whorton, Taylor "Mike" VanMeter Jr., and Myrtle Taylor.

Betty was a graduate of Oldtown School. She attended Catherman's Business School.

Betty worked at First Federal Savings and Loan, setting up loan files and safety deposit boxes. She had worked in the office at Fairchild Aircraft and the Law Office of Carskadon & Gilchrist.

She followed David Jeremiah and Robert Jeffress Ministries.

Betty was an avid reader.

Survivors include her children, Sheryl Sharpless and husband, Steve; Linda Vosburgh and husband, Arnold; and Michael McDonald and wife, Christina; daughter-in-law, Kathy Turner; grandchildren, Jeffrey McDonald (Beth), Jason McDonald (Lisa), Nicole Kimble (David), Jeremy Thompson (Andrea), Amanda Newsom (Johnny), Kristen McCusker, Stephanie Vosburgh, Christopher Vosburgh, and Megan Foster (Bobby); great grandchildren, Andie McDonald, Dakota Kimble, Kaden Kimble, Charli Thompson, Josie Thompson, Wyatt Thompson, Rylie Newsom, Weston Newsom, MacKenzie McDonald, Chloe Foster, Robert ("Bub") Foster, and Logan McCusker.

As per her wishes, Betty will be cremated.
