Bonnie Jean Wilson Obituary

Cumberland, Maryland - Bonnie Jean Wilson, 85, of Cumberland, Md., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born Aug. 19, 1940, in Cumberland, Md., Ms. Wilson was the daughter of the late Edwin Bonnie Hartman and Margaret Viola (Trost) Hartman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 1/2 years, Ersel "Buzz" Alvin Wilson Jr.; her sisters, Betty Powers and Patricia VanPelt; an infant sister, Roberta; and her brother, Edwin Donald Hartman.

Bonnie graduated from Fort Hill High School Class of 1958 and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She would help plan and attend luncheons with her classmates and treasured the friendships she had built with them over the years. She was a devoted Christian and spent many years serving the Lord through helping others. She was also a member of the Northeast Elementary PTA, where she remained active for many years.

Bonnie loved spending time with family and friends, and she never met a stranger. She loved to shop, and the family often chuckled over her propensity to be late for most everything.

Bonnie was a Wilton cake instructor, having made numerous wedding and special occasion cakes for many people across 50 years. She lovingly made each of her children's wedding cakes. It was often said, "There's nothing like a Bonnie Wilson cake."

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Mullan (Pat); her sons, E.A. "Todd" Wilson III (Karen), Neal Wilson (Kathy), Dwayne Wilson (Sherri) and Craig Wilson (Heather); her grandchildren, Brian Broadwater (Ashley), Andy Broadwater (Taylor), Josh Broadwater (Michaela), Ersel Alvin Wilson IV (Heather), Derick Wilson (Staci), Jared Wilson, Nathan Wilson (Erin), Meghan Clayton (Dustin), Madie Marteeny (Michael), Melissa Liller (Travis), Nick Wilson (Cody), Jacob Wilson, Kaitlyn Wilson and Emmy Wilson; her stepgrandchildren, C.J. Mullan (Rachael), Heather Gonzales (Julio), Kim Ackerman, Tiffany Machnic (Evan) and Megan Poland (Jesse); as well as her great-grandchildren, Mia, Harper, Noah, Bailey, Brevyn, Maddux, Carson, Bristol, Allie, Addie, Joel, Ezra, Emalyn, Evan, Everett, Henry, Mariella, Ava, Quinn, Wesley, Ava, Josh, Sydney, Alex, Abby, Nola, Payton, Camden, Evie and Penny; her sisters-in-law, Linda Hartman and Gloria Springer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends who were always there when needed.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St., Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Donations can be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church; or the FHHS Class of 1958 Scholarship Fund via The Community Trust Foundation, 208 N. Centre St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
