Calvin "Pete" R. Baker Obituary

Cumberland, Maryland - Calvin R. "Pete" Baker died peacefully on Oct. 26, 2025, at Mountain City Rehab Center.

Pete was born April 1938 in Cresson, Pa., to the late Calvin Clinton Baker and Evelyn Myrtle Clark Baker. A graduate of Allegany High School, he met the love of his life, Shirley, there, and they spent 64 married years together.

Pete was a lineman by trade at Potomac Edison for 37.5 years. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was active in the Allegany Optimist Club, the Queen City Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M. and was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, where he was a 32nd degree.

Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his three children, Kelly and Shawn Huntzinger, Brian Baker and Loyda Sequeira, Kimberly and Royce O'Baker Jr.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Trey and Chloe O'Baker, Adam and Alyssa Kambic and daughter Adalynn, Kylan and Benjamin Kelly and children Maverick and Sutton, Mark and Amanda Kambic and sons Grayson and Emmett, Reed and Courtney Huntzinger, Barrett Huntzinger, and Valeria and Daniela Castillo. Pete is survived by his sister, Patricia Spies of Hagerstown, Md.; his brother, James Baker of Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews who loved visiting throughout the years.

Friends and family will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com, on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m., with a service led by Mike Stotler at 1 p.m. The Queen City Lodge #131 will conduct a memorial service at 12:45 p.m.

A private interment will follow the service.
