Carol Frances Ashton Obituary

Fairfax, VA - Carol Frances Ashton, 79, was welcomed home to her Lord on Feb. 12, 2026.

Born Nov. 25, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lenora (Evans) Mullenax. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two grandsons, four brothers and four sisters.

Carol lived her life in service to others, as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and through her work. She will be remembered as the mom who always had a station wagon full of teenage boys, living their adventures right along with them, and a home that always had warm food at the ready to nourish anyone who crossed her threshold. She was an inspiration and ahead of her time by always working and eventually retiring from the North Carolina Department of Social Services.

Carol's warm smile and understanding eyes touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her giving spirit and huge heart. Carol loved God, loved her family, and loved Elvis!

Carol is survived by two sisters and her three sons, along with their wives and families. She was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol was laid to rest between the two loves of her life, Bud and Tom, at Glendale Cemetery in Flintstone, Md.

Donations may be made in Carol's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/.
