Carol A Roy Obituary

DRYFORK, W.Va. - Carol Ann (Festerman) Roy, 74, of Dry Fork, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, lovingly surrounded with the love and warmth of her family. She had been in declining health for some time.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth (Laurie) Festerman; three sisters, Nancy Screen, Dorothy Kerr, and Joan Bolden; one brother, James Walter Festerman, all from Frostburg; and her father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Olive (Carr) Roy, of Cumberland.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, R. Thurl Roy; her son, Mark Roy and wife, Stacy, Winchester, Va.; her son, Chad Roy and Mandy Bosley, Alva, Fla.; her stepdaughter, Tracey Crowell, Mount Savage; and a brother, John "Dale" Festerman, Frostburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody, Natalie and Barrett Roy, Blake and Easton Roy and Ava Britto, Tim Roy, Matt Roy (Angela), Sarah Crowell, Sam and Becky Crowell; great-grandchildren, Owen, Daja, Melody and Leland; her sisters-in-law, who affectionately considered her as their fourth sister, Wanda Lewis, Melva Friedland and Barbara (Greg) Goss; and her comforting fur baby, "Trixie."

Carol was born on Jan. 31, 1946, in Eckhart Mines, to Walter and Elizabeth (Laurie) Festerman. Carol had sweet memories of growing up in Eckhart with her siblings and parents. Carol always loved the great outdoors from simple gardening or taking care of the chickens to amazing fishing and boating trips. She was a great "baseball mom" and wife to the coach...never missed a game to see her "boys" play.

Carol attended Eckhart Elementary School and was a 1964 graduate of Beall High School, in Frostburg. After graduation, she was employed in the accounting department of the Celanese Corporation.

Carol's greatest adventure happened on June 8, 1968, when she married the love of her life, Ralph "Thurl" Roy. Thurl was her soul mate and life-long best friend. They were always together and retired some time ago, spending their summers in West Virginia and their winters in Florida, enjoying life to the fullest with their cherished children, grandchildren and family and friends.

Carol's family was a treasure to her and she remained close to all, including her many nieces and nephews, throughout her life. She tried to never miss a family function and her smile brightened the day. She was kind and compassionate by nature and a devout Christian. They attended Red Creek Bethel Church. She will be sadly missed by many friends who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Dryfork Assembly, Dryfork, with Pastor John Moyers officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Red Creek Bethel Church, Laneville Road, Dryfork, WV 26263; or American Liver Foundation.
