Carol Wanda Watkins Obituary

Mount Savage, MD - Carol Wanda Watkins, 83, of Mount Savage, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.

Born on Aug. 23, 1942, to the late Helen M (Turner) and Haven R. Grapes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Ronnie Grapes, Grace Ross, Lee Heavner and Shirley Jean Feller.

Carol was a nurse at Miners Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Sacred Heart and Frostburg Village. She loved reading books, antiquing, thrifting yard sales and flowers. She always helped with church hoagies sales and fundraisers.

Surviving are her husband, Karl W. Watkins Sr.; children, Billy Watkins and wife Katherine, Sherri Watkins and Rick Burley; grandchildren, Tucker Burley and Samara Burley; siblings, Charlotte Jones, Bonnie Wilson and husband Steve; in-laws, Stan and wife Karen Watkins, Ron Myers and wife Joanne; numerous nieces and nephews. Carol also leaves behind close friends, June Ann Martin, Bonnie Paul, Donna Lashley and Cindy Femi.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, MD, on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon. A funeral service will follow at noon, with Pastor Barry Winters.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
