Charles Calvin Hoffmaster
Charles Calvin Hoffmaster, 94, of Carpendale, W.Va., died Sept. 18, 2019, at The Country House.
Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Colfax, he was the son of the late Charles and Velma (French) Hoffmaster.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean; two stepsons, James Kinsman and Jonathan Kinsman; and his siblings, Clara Burns, Blanche Jackson, Dorothy Hoffmaster, and Albert Hoffmaster.
He was a 1942 graduate of East Fairmont High School.
Mr. Hoffmaster was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Charlie retired in 1985 from CSX, with 42 years of service as a machinist.
He belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church, Davis Lodge 51, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite Bodies, Alkire Chapter 10, O.E.S., Cumberland Locomotive Shop Retirees Association, Cumberland Chapter 103 NARVE, and William E. Shuck Jr. Memorial Post 136, American Legion.
Among the survivors are his daughter-in-law, Kathy Kinsman; granddaughter, Melissa Vogtman; great-grandchildren, Zackary and Reese Vogtman; nephews, Leroy Dawson and Mike Hoffmaster; nieces, Diane Denzler, Patty Hager, and Jennifer Jeffries; and special friends, Sally Milliron and Gary Clites.
Friends will be received at Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by Fort Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Davis Lodge 51, A.F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at the gravesite.
