Elk Garden, West Virginia - Charles Edwin Sayers, 88, of Elk Garden, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Charles was the loving husband of Janet Hipp Sayers with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Charles was born on Dec. 28, 1935, in Oakmont, W.Va., to the late John and Alta McDermott Sayers. After graduating from Elk Garden High School, class of '54, he joined the Army and served from 1955 to 1958. After his discharge, Charles worked for NSA in Maryland as a computer operator until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his children, Vicki Barrick and Tom of Richmond, Ky., Karen Snow and Kenneth of Mount Storm, W.Va., and John Sayers and Patti of Upperco. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Joshua Barrick, Bradley Barrick, Kenneth Snow, Kyle Snow, and Kendra Snow; and his two great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Jack Sayers of Elk Garden, W.Va., and Leonard Sayers of Lexington; as well as a sister, Nancy Durst of Blacksville, W.Va.
The family will welcome visitors on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Chapel, 931 State Street, Kitzmiller.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior.
Interment with military honors will follow at Nethken Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Nethken Hill Road and Stullenbarger Road, in Elk Garden, W.Va.
