Ellerslie, MD - Charles Albert Wilt, Jr., 82, of Ellerslie, Md., died Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, Md.

Born March 31, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Charles A. and June (Fratz) Wilt, Sr. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Durkin.

Mr. Wilt worked in the operating and manufacturing division of Kelly Springfield, retiring after 35 years of service. He had also worked for Hi Q In Corp. as a test driver for 12 years and a 1961 Allegany High School graduate. Charles was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and attended Barrelville Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Cresaptown Eagles Aerie 2883 and Accident Post 208, American Legion. Charles attended Betty Ford and Hazelden Clinic in Minnesota and was 35+ years sober.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ruth (Woods) Wilt; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Francis "Bud" Stahlman) Hubbard, Cumberland; one step-son, Ross (Amy) Knotts, Jr., St. Augustine, Fla.; one step-daughter, Krista (Ron) Cochran, Owings, Md.; two sisters, Helen Dickson, Anderson, S.C.; Louise Luke, McHenry, Md.; eight grandchildren, Joey Fazenbaker, Austin Durkin, Haley Sellet, Joshua, Benjamin, and Dakota Knotts, Eliza and Abbi Cochran; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md., on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, Md., on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James A. Oester officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery.
