Hernando, Florida - Dr. Clinton Lloyd Rogers, 90, passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness on Sept. 5, 2025. Born in Keyser, W.Va., on Feb. 22, 1935, to Howard and Virginia (Pifer) Rogers.

Clinton, who most knew as Buddy, graduated from Keyser High School in 1953. He went on to graduate from Potomac State College in 1955, and West Virginia University in 1957. With a passion for health care, Clinton attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was active in the Student Government Association, Nu Sigma Nu fraternity and elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, graduating magna cum laude in 1960. It was during his third year of medical school that Clinton married the love of his life, Barbara Lee Bishop, on Aug. 2, 1958, in Keyser, W.Va.

After completing an internship with the United States Public Health Service Marine Hospital in Baltimore, Md., in 1961, Clinton returned home to his roots and opened a general practice in Keyser, W.Va. He was then called to active duty as a captain in the United States Air Force and stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1963, Clinton, his wife Barbara and their two young children once again returned to his hometown of Keyser, where he earned the name of "young Dr. Bud" as a family doctor, making house calls to patients throughout the area until 1966. Their son Mark was born in Baltimore, and daughter Melissa was born while in Texas.

With a decision to specialize in radiology medicine, Clinton attended the residency program at West Virginia University Medical Center and completed his residency with the UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va., where he studied with Dr. Ted Keats, M.D. He became board certified in radiology and nuclear medicine in 1970. As a radiologist, Clinton practiced first with Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, W.Va., before relocating with his family to Cumberland, Md. It was there that he enjoyed a long career practicing diagnostic and therapeutic radiology with Sacred Heart Hospital, and later, in the more rural setting of Community Hospital of Meyersdale, Pa.

Known for his dry wit, penchant for sharing stories and love of all things West Virginia, Clinton was an avid reader of history and enjoyed being in nature, cutting wood and gardening, following the WV Mountaineers and spending time with his family and many friends. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed many years of travel together while raising their children and spent time on the south branch of the Potomac River and later, at their cabin in Canaan Valley, where they hiked the Dolly Sods Wilderness and cared for the families of geese who returned every year to their pond. In 2000, Clinton and Barbara relocated full-time to Citrus County, Fla., where he enjoyed watching his two granddaughters grow up and remained a strong presence in their lives.

Clinton formerly served as the president of the Allegany County Cancer Society and the Allegany County Medical Society in Cumberland, Md., and as a clinical associate professor of radiology at the West Virginia University Medical Center.

Clinton is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Nathaniel and Virginia Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Lee Rogers (Bishop); his son, Dr. Mark Clinton Rogers and wife Sandra (Inverness, Fla.); granddaughters, Alexandra Nicole Rogers (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Olivia Grace Rogers (Gainesville, Fla.); his daughter, Melissa Lee Rogers and partner Robert Patterson (Denver, Colo.); sister-in-law, Cheryl Ann Herbaugh (Bishop) and brother-in-law, William Herbaugh (Cumberland, Md.); nephew, Todd Herbaugh and his wife Debbie, and their four children. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
