Cumberland, Maryland - Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Read, 77, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born July 19, 1948, in Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Read was the daughter of the late Floyd and Gertrude Klopf.

Cindy was a graduate of Elizabeth High School, Class of 1966. After attending and graduating from beauty school, she stayed home and raised her children.

Cindy was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she served on the Church Council, the Call Committee, and was also a volunteer of Bountiful Blessings. She enjoyed line dancing, bowling in a league at the Bowler and playing volleyball at St. Paul's.

She was also a volunteer at Rocky Gap State Park, where she was a camp host for 28 years and a member of the volunteer team.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dennis Read; her daughter, Heather Morgan and husband David; her son, Brian Read and wife Lauren; her grandchildren, Chad Morgan, Leigha Read and Derek Read; her sisters, Pamela Klopf, and Kimberly Baber and husband Todd; and her twin nephews, Wyatt and Kamden Baber.

Friends will be received at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 15 N. Smallwood St., Cumberland, MD 21502, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., with Father Ryan Viands officiating.
