Daniel Francis Browning, 74, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 3, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center. Born on Oct. 16, 1950, in Cumberland, Md., Daniel lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering love for his family.

Daniel served honorably in the U.S. Army for 20 years, where he bravely completed two tours in Vietnam, as well as additional tours in Korea, Okinawa, Germany, Washington, D.C., and Columbia, S.C. After his distinguished military career, he retired from the Army and continued to serve the community through his work with the West Virginia State Tax Department in Charleston.

Known for his big heart and wonderful sense of humor, Daniel was a man who cherished life and the bonds he formed with others. He had a profound love for animals and enjoyed bringing joy to those around him. He was a dedicated family man, survived by his wife of 42 years, Theresa Browning; and his beloved daughter, Dr. Angelina Browning, who is married to Dr. Brandon Smith, along with their daughter and his cherished granddaughter, Georgia Smith. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Rebecca Charlet, and her children, Isabella, Elijah, Ethan, and Xavier; as well as his older brother, Tom Browning, of Keyser, W.Va.

Daniel was an avid lifelong fan of the West Virginia University Mountaineers and took great pride in supporting his team. He is predeceased by his parents, Mary Lou and George Thomas Browning; his sister, Diana Barbera; and his younger brother, Michael Browning; along with many dear friends.

Daniel Francis Browning will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his life. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date with immediate family.
