Cumberland, MD - SHORT GAP, W.Va. [mdash] Danny Lynn Witt, 47, of Short Gap, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at UPMC-Western Maryland, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Born October 26, 1977, in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, Danny was the son of Richard Witt and wife, Bonnie; and Debra (Porter) Bender and husband, Larry. Danny was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold Porter Sr., Elizabeth "Betty" Porter; Judy Porter; and Thomas and Phyllis Bender; and his paternal grandparents, Richard Witt and Shirley "Liz" Witt; and a sister, Jennifer Ann Witt.

Danny graduated from Meyersdale Area High School Class of 1996, and also graduated from Allegany College of Maryland in 2004 with his nursing degree. He was currently employed at UPMC- Western Maryland as a Registered Nurse where he worked in PACU.

Prior to nursing, Danny was a vet tech at LaVale Veterinary Hospital. He was the owner of Wittsend Daschunds and Basenjis. Danny was a co-owner of many of his dogs, with his best friend, Julie Hartigan, who also showed some of Danny's dogs. Danny loved raising sheep, goats, chickens, peacocks, birds and fish.

Besides his parents, Danny is survived by his brother, Mike Witt and wife, Cathy; his nephew, Ryan Witt; his niece, Jennifer Witt; his step-brothers, Chris Wisler, Eric Wisler and Chanin; his step-niece, Sierra; and his step-nephew, Ryan; as well as numerous furbabies, especially Harmony and Braun; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to UPMC-Western Maryland, Presbyterian, and Shadyside Hospitals for the care given to Danny; also to David Crabtree, Zach Sloane, Ryan and Mike Witt for taking care of Danny's farm animals; and to Julie Hartigan and Kim Kwiathkowski for seeing that Danny's dogs were all placed in foster homes; and to all of Danny's co-workers, friends, and family that came by to see Danny while he was in the hospital; and lastly to Crissy Martz for guidance in Dan's care; and a special aunt, Laur Sechriest, for all the love and care provided.

A private family service will take place, and a Celebration of Danny's Life will be announced at a later date. Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., is assisting the family.
