Springs, PA - Deborah Kay Kolb, 69, of Springs, Pa., died Monday, August 4, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland, Md.

Born August 25, 1955, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jay C. and Arlene J. (Harding) Baer. She was also preceded in death by one brother, David Baer.

Mrs. Kolb was the Coordinator of Judith P. Hoyer Center for Allegany County Public Schools. She received her Bachelors of Education and Masters of Education in Reading from Frostburg State University. She did grant work which funded summer programs for children Pre-K through Kindergarten and organized family literacy nights.

She was a member of Amity UCC, where she served as an Elder and was on the Pastoral Search Committee. She served as choir leader for St. John's UCC. She was a 10 year volunteer with Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad and a volunteer at Meyersdale Food Pantry. She was a member of the Steering Committee for Cash Valley Community School and the Maryland State Judy Center, Early Childhood Advisory Council, and a Partner with Childcare Administration. She was also a member of Friends of Meyersdale Library, White Oak and Sherwood Bowling Leagues, Polish Pines Golf League and Meyersdale American Legion Auxiliary.

Deborah loved sports and music, having given piano lessons for years.

She is survived by her husband, Rudi B. Kolb; one daughter, Susan (Maureen) Kolb, Hagerstown, MD; one sister, Karen (Norman) Gnagey, Meyersdale; and a granddaughter expected in December.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Amity United Church of Christ, 315 Center St., Meyersdale, PA 15552, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dane Cramer officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.
