Delbert M. Tichnell Obituary
New Creek, WV - Delbert M. Tichnell, 89, formerly of New Creek, W.Va., passed away at Complete Care Dawn View Center, Fort Ashby, W.Va., on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Delbert was born June 2, 1936, in Keyser, W.Va., and was the son of the late Delbert M. and Elizabeth R. (Kroll) Tichnell. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Jean Tichnell; and an uncle, Olin Moody.
Mr. Tichnell worked at Westvaco Luke Mill for 30-plus years in the maintenance department. He also was a veteran of world war, serving in the U.S. Army and was part of the 46th Infantry Division in Germany. He was a lifelong member of Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek.
At Mr. Tichnell's request, there will be no visitation or service.
Interment will be at the Tichnell Family Cemetery, Swanton, MD.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
