Cumberland, MD - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald L. Smith, Jr. (Donny) on April 30, 2025 in Cumberland, Md. He was born on January 13, 1964 to Donald L. Smith, Sr. and Mary R. Smith of Cumberland, Md.

Donny graduated from Oldtown High School in Oldtown, Md. in 1982 where he was involved in musical theater and was able to showcase his gifts as a talented musician, actor and singer. He then joined the Naval branch of the Armed Forces where he served for 7 years and was awarded multiple commendations including the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Expeditionary Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Using his entrepreneurial talents, Donny became a Domino's Pizza multiple franchisee owner for more than 25 years as well as a seasoned pilot of small aircraft.

Donny is survived by his daughter, Tara Nicole Smith and fiancé Zack Lease; his son, Alexander Tate Smith and fiancé Haille Anderson; his stepdaughter, Cara Nicole Saxton and spouse Justin Saxton; his granddaughter, Rayna May; and step-grandchildren, Madison and Allen; his parents, Donald L. Smith, Sr. and Mary Smith; his sisters, Diana Murray and spouse Alan Murray, Brenda Skidmore and spouse Richard Skidmore, Kelly Smith; and his brother, Jason Smith and spouse Michele Smith; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A small private memorial service was held on Friday May 9, 2025, at the Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery for immediate family members only.

Donny's innate goodness and the difference that he made in the lives of so many others will never be forgotten. Who he was as a human being, his talents, his skills, his love for humanity, and his generosity to so many will live on in our memories. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
