Romney, WV - Donna Kay Clovis passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at her home in Romney, W.Va.

Donna was born March 22, 1945, in Fairmont, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Dale and Bea Tennant Toothman.

She grew up in the Fairmont, W.Va., area.

Donna was a 1963 West Fairmont High School graduate and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Fairmont State College and her master's degree from Frostburg State University.

Donna moved to Romney in 1967 and began her teaching career at Hampshire High School. She faithfully served the students for more than four decades.

At the conclusion of the 1999-2000 school year, she and her husband, Paul, retired together. Even after retirement, Donna remained connected to the school she loved, serving as a substitute teacher for several more years. She took great pride in helping generations of students in Hampshire County.

She was a member of the Hampshire Association of Retired School Employees (HARSE) and served as a board member of the Romney Federal Credit Union.

Donna found great joy spending time with her family, tending to her flower gardens, traveling and sharing her home with her beloved pets. She always provided the best home to them.

Dexter, her current companion, brought her much joy and misses her immensely.

Donna married H. Paul Clovis on Jan. 9, 1966, in Oakland, Md. They were married for 54 years.

Surviving them her are a son, Chad Clovis and wife Kelly of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters, Sue Gill of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Dale Curry-Smith (Pat) of Pickens, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of both Donna and Paul's lives will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Romney First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Heather Rogers and Dr. Roy Knight.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to service, from 10 to 11 a.m.
