Cumberland, Maryland - Donna Jean Deter, 83, of Cumberland, Md., passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born December 1, 1941, in Allegany County, MD, Donna was the daughter of the late Charles May, and Hilda Ruth (Robertson) Ziler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Deter; and her sister, Patricia McNemar.

Donna attended Allegany High School and was formerly employed at Head Start, Humpty Dumpty, and Lighthouse Christian Academy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Donna adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her son, Ronald Deter and wife, Robin; her daughter, Susan Heavner and husband, Wayne; her sister, Carol Davies; her grandchildren, Christopher "Coty" Heavner and fiancée, Cindy; Jonathan "Jon" Heavner and wife, Christa; Haley Fitzpatrick and husband, Bradlee; and Alexis "Lexy" Heavner and fiancé, Jensen; and her great-grandchildren, Baylee Fitzpatrick, Bentlee Fitzpatrick, and Leah Heavner; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastors Hal and Ann Atkins officiating.

Interment will be in St. Luke's Cemetery.
