Centreville, MD - CENTREVILLE [mdash] Dorothy Yvonne Kelly peacefully passed away on June 22, 2026. She was 84 years old.
She was born on February 16, 1942, in Ridgeley, West Virginia, to the late Lawrence Fred Smith and Virginia Yvonne Wilfong.
Dorothy, known as "Dottie" by her friends and family, attended Fort Hill High School in Cumberland.
She moved to Baltimore after high school, and married Roger Twigg of Cumberland. She raised three sons and a daughter.
Later in life, Dottie returned to Cumberland where she remarried twice. She enjoyed spending time with friends at the social clubs in Cumberland and was a member of the American Legion, Democrat, Moose, and Good-fellowship Clubs.
Dottie spent the last four years of her life living with her oldest son and daughter-in-law on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she enjoyed her arts & crafts, puzzles & word searches, and socializing with friends and family.
Dottie is survived by her loving children, Louis "Roger" Twigg Jr. (Karen), Lawrence "Ross" Twigg (Amy), Andrew "Bunky" Twigg (Meghan), sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Phyllis Smith-Davis-Lyon.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her daughter, Tonia Twigg-Swick; grandson, Mitchell Swick; brother, Paul Smith; sisters, Vivian Smith-Thrasher and Juanita Smith-Creamer-German; and husbands, Bill Smith and Mike Kelly.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life in the near future; details will be shared when available. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots.
