Dorothy C. Liller ("Dottie") Obituary

Keyser, WV - Dorothy C. "Dottie" Liller, 95, of Pine Swamp Rd., Keyser, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.

Born on October 21, 1929 in Headsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Elijah S. Parish and Mary A. (Martin) Parish. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Hank" Liller in 2005, who was the love of her life. They were married in 1948. She was the last surviving sibling in her family, being preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Paul, Arthur "Jack" and Elijah " Junior" Parish; and sisters, Alice House, Edna Kasmier, Ethel Miller, Justina "Mae" Faulk, and Lena Amtower.

Dottie retired from G. C. Murphy in Keyser and cherished her lifelong friendships with the "Murphy Girls". She was a charter member of Laurel Dale United Methodist Church. She was currently attending Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church, where up until her health deteriorated, she enjoyed socializing and worshiping with her church family. Dottie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was fondly called "Nana" by all who knew her. Her family was the center of her universe and her greatest joy in life was spending time with them. She had both a love and talent for cooking, and it was a well-known fact that you would never leave " Nana's" house hungry. She was her happiest when her family would gather at her house for a home-cooked meal.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie Willis (Tom) of Fredericksburg, Va., and Donna Rhodes (Bill) of Keyser, W.Va.; grandchildren, Eli Rhodes (Lisa), Elissa Pancake (Craig), Collin "Bucky" Rhodes (Jason), all of Keyser, W.Va., and Marcie Willis of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and her prized possessions, her great granddaughters, Maddie and Hannah Rhodes. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; a special niece, Diana McCarty (George); and their daughters, Anna Carrier and Elizabeth Woodford; special adopted grandchildren, Jason Hale, Jordan Rogers, Molly and Adam Kephart, and Kayla and Kerra Miller; special neighbors, Eric and Melissa Rogers and Pat McCullough; and her devoted caregiver, Donna Whisner.

Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, May 26, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Randy Shoemaker and Pastor Gwen Wolford officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church, 9182 Northwestern Turnpike, New Creek, W.Va., 26743.
