Cresaptown, MD - CRESAPTOWN [mdash] Edna Jane (Shaver) Cooper, 84, of Cresaptown, passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at UPMC - Western Maryland.

Born May 12, 1941, in Richwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Reta Pearl (Shreve) Shaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Cooper; sisters, Carolyn K. Beckett and Jo Ann L. Krogel; and siblings-in-law, Earl Lee Cooper and Annabell (Mazzella) Shaver.

Edna was a 1959 graduate of Richwood High School. She earned a culinary certification from Center for Career & Technical Education in Cresaptown.

Edna was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She frequently cared for others by bringing them items that they needed.

She was a member of the Cresaptown Neighborhood Watch and the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing cards and putting together puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Edna is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Rice-Gump, Christina Shirey, and Victoria Wagner; two sons, Timothy Cooper and wife, Brenda; and Gerald Cooper; brothers, William "Bub" Shaver and James Shaver; sister, Evelyn Spencer; one sister-in-law, Sallie "Louise" Cooper; nine grandchildren, whom were the lights of her life; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Lashbaugh,Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 14513 McMullen Hwy SW, Cumberland, MD 21502 in honor of Edna.
