Berlin, Md - Edward Guy Dowling, 80, of Berlin, Maryland, passed away peacefully with his family on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on March 20, 1945, son of the late Edward Joseph Dowling and Margaret Sabina Cierniak Dowling, he graduated from Mount St Joseph's High School Baltimore, Md., class of 1963.

Guy received his Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy in 1969 from the University of Maryland Pharmacy School.

Guy moved from Baltimore to Cumberland Maryland, where he owned and operated Hank's Pharmacy for over 40 years.

Guy was known for being a caring and compassionate member of his community throughout his life, during both his career and his retirement.

Guy had a passion for sports, and was an avid Baltimore Colts, Ravens and Orioles fan. He shared this love and knowledge of sports through being a volunteer swim coach at the Cumberland YMCA for over 20 years, along side his wife. He was a role model and positive influence for many swimmers, including both of his own children. He also later volunteered by officiating for the Ocean Pines swim team for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dolores Agnes Bittner Dowling; sister, Renee Martellini and her husband John; brother, Andrew Joseph Dowling; son, Brian Guy Dowling and wife Kelly; daughter, Missy Kelly Dowling Detwiler; grandchildren, Andalynn Callie Moore and husband Drew, Christian Joseph Dowling, Guy Allen Detwiler and fiancé Hanna Ann Simmers, Sean Patrick, Logan Murphy, Alyssa Janelle, Nicolas Emory and great-grandson Nolan Elliot Detwiler, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Michelle Dowling, sister-in-law Deborah Dowling, and parents Edward Joseph Dowling and Margaret Sabina Dowling.

His love, laughter, and kindness will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Service at 504 Franklin Ave, Berlin, MD 21811 on August 8, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 8, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 11211 Beauchamp Road, Berlin MD 21811 at 1 p.m. Burial following mass Gardens of the Pines Cemetery, Columbarium and Ossuary 11227 Racetrack Road, Berlin, MD 21811
