Cumberland, MD - Edward T. Wagus, 84, of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Allegany Nursing and Health.

Born on Jan. 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward C. Wagus and Rhoda (Landis) Wagus.

He was also preceded in death by sister, Mary Hill and husband Robert; brothers, William Wagus and wife Phyllis, Robert Wagus, Donald Wagus and wife Ann; nephew, Gary Wilkins; father and mother-in-law, William and Marie (Troutman) Starkey; and brother-in-law, William Starkey and wife Lucille.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lydiann (Starkey) Wagus; sons, Michael Wagus and wife Diane, Erik Wagus and wife Daniela; daughter, Andrea Mongold; grandsons, Matthew Mongold and Shannon, Zachary Mongold and wife Sandie, Ryan and Cayden Wagus, Michael Sharon and wife Morgan, Jonathan Sharon and Danny Sharon; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Addison Mongold, Tristan Sharon and Nilmy, Ashton, Ava and Arien Sharon; great-great-granddaughter, Noely Sharon; sisters, Henrieta Chase and Daniel, and Margaret Wilkins; brothers-in-law, Thom and Dave Starkey; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed graduated from Fort Hill High School, Class of 1960, and Frostburg State Teachers College, Class of 1964. He taught social studies at Greenbelt Junior High for 12 years.

Returning to Cumberland in 1976, he worked at Lowe's, starting in the warehouse, was promoted to retail sales manager, then assistant manager, and retired as store manager in 1998.

In 2000, he became a school bus aide for Allegany County Public Schools, retiring after 21 years.

Per his request, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
