Eleanor Margaret Llewellyn Poole, of Sykesville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the age of 86, surrounded by family who were faithful in her care.
She was born Sept. 17, 1929, to Albertus and Ethel Llewellyn of Barton.
At the age of 18, she moved to Sykesville to start a career in nursing at the Springfield Hospital Center, where she worked for 30 years. While working there she met her husband, Harvey Poole of Lisbon. They were married on April 23, 1951, and had three daughters, Linda, Janet and Denise.
Eleanor was a member of the Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church of Eldersburg. She enjoyed traveling, taking opportunities whenever possible to visit new places. Along with travel, she enjoyed crocheting, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her siblings, Raymond Llewellyn, Mary Lou Preston, Albertus P Llewellyn Jr.; daughters, Linda Healey, Janet Poole, and Denise Meyers; her sons-in-law, Gene Healey and Wayne Meyers; her grandchildren, Robert Veit, Jay Groomes, Arthur Healey, Nicholas Clark, and Brandon Reeves; her grandson-in-law, John Davidson; granddaughter-in-law, Betsy Groomes; and her great-grandson, Miles Anthony Groomes.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Albertus and Ethel Llewellyn; her brother, Gerald Llewellyn; and her husband, Harvey Poole.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Jennings Chapel Cemetery, Woodbine.
