Hagerstown, Maryland - Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Rice, 81, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully, Monday, April 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1943, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. Martin and the late Louise F. (Donahoe) Martin.

Betty Jane was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Catholic Girls Central in Cumberland, Md.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger L. Rice; daughters, Brenda L. Talbert and husband, Edward of Williamsport, Md., and Tracy L. Rice of Taos, N.M.; son, Gregory S. Rice and wife, Maria of Denver, Col.; brother, Ronald S. Martin of Cumberland, Md.; grandchildren, Emily and Drew Talbert and Ian and Margo Rice; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond D. Martin and Thomas E. Martin.

Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., North Hagerstown, Md., with Deacon Bill Nairn officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, Md.
