BURLINGTON, N.C. - Ellen Marie Blake, 74, of Burlington, and recently of Broadmore Senior Living, Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

She was born in Hagerstown, on Aug. 21, 1944. She was the daughter of the late John E. Blake Sr. and Virginia M. (Ridge) Blake. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John E. Blake Jr.

She is survived by her beloved labradoodle Black Jacqueline and her cousins, Dennis Wade and wife, Sue, of Fairfield, Pa. and their sons Ted, Bill and Scott; Cindy Bennett of Hagerstown, and her sons, Brian and Brad; Debra White of Hagerstown, and her daughters, Billie Jo and Jennifer; Melissa Kimps of Waldorf, and her children, Nicholas and Emily, who she thought of as grandchildren; and Joanie Keister of Boonsboro, and her sons, Jake and Rocky; and life-long friends, Bernadette (Bonnie) and Richard Ross of Cumberland.

Ellen spent her early life in Cumberland, until graduating from Allegany High School in 1962. She received an accounting degree from Strayer University and worked as an accountant for 40 years at various agencies in Washington, D.C. until her retirement in 2006 when she moved to Burlington. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Elon, Elon.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 2 p.m. from the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home

Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
