Apex, North Carolina - Faith Wigfield Whitacre, 92, of Apex, N.C., formerly of LaVale, Md., went home to be with her Lord on April 22, 2026.

Faith was the fourth child of the Rev. Hartley Wigfield Sr. and Mildred Ryan Wigfield, born Jan. 14, 1934, in Oldtown, Md. She was as a 1952 graduate of Fort Hill High School and has remained active with her class friends.

In her early career, she worked at McCrory's on Baltimore Street in Cumberland, later at Potomac Valley Television company as an administrative assistant. In her later career, she was a designer, decorator for Snyder's Gift Shop and D'Navia, both in LaVale.

She was a full-time mom and homemaker for many years.

She was the bride of Garland Whitacre for 55 years.

She has been an active member of many churches, working with her parents in pioneer church planting in her early years, and a member of Central Assembly of God, Cumberland, Md., for much of her adult life, where she had many lifetime friends. Recently, she has made many friends at Focus Church in Apex, N.C.

In addition to her parents, Faith was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Louise McCoy; a brother, Joseph Wigfield; and an infant brother, Ronald Wigfield.

She is survived by her oldest brother, Hartley Wigfield Jr.; daughters, Sherry Campbell and husband Brad, of Apex, N.C., and Elaine Casteel and husband Rodney, Short Gap, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Seth Campbell and wife Julia, Ashley Casteel, Abbey Jackson and husband Colin, and Becky Ickes and husband Ben.

She has five great-grandchildren, Landon Jackson, Madilyn Jackson, Adalynn Ickes, Andrew Ickes and Talia Campbell.

She has many nieces and nephews of whom she is very fond and who were an important part of her life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Focus Church, Apex, N.C.

A celebration luncheon will be held in Cumberland with details forthcoming.

Interment will be Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
